Care & Maintenance

Cutting Board Care

Caring for your cutting board is not complicated; when done correctly, it should last for generations. It has been pre-conditioned with 1925 Wood Conditioner, our own natural blend of fractionated coconut oil and beeswax. We’ve included a tin to make maintenance a breeze. It is important to apply a fresh coat before your first use.

Regular Maintenance

Regular maintenance is recommended roughly once or twice a month - whenever you notice the board is starting to look dry or less vibrant. Simply use a clean cotton cloth or towel to scoop a small amount of wood conditioner and rub it into all six sides of the board. Then, stand the board on its end or rest it on a wire rack – anything that will allow air to flow around it. Leave the conditioner to dry for at least 1 hour – there is no harm in leaving it longer – then use a clean part of the same cloth to buff off any excess. That’s it!

Cleaning

Rinse your board with a damp cloth or steady stream of lukewarm water after use. Mild dish soap is fine. For a deep clean, sprinkle coarse salt over the board and scrub with half of a lemon, then rinse. Whenever the board is wet, hand-dry it with a towel and then let it fully air-dry while standing on its edge or on a wire rack.

General Precautions

Take care to not fully submerge your board or run it through the dishwasher.

Do not lay a wet board flat on its wide face. Instead, hand-dry with a towel and then let it air-dry fully while standing up on its edge.

Avoid allowing stains to go untreated. If you treat them sooner, they will be easier to remove. If chopping foods with strong pigmentation (for example, berries, beets, or tomatoes), rinse off immediately to minimize the chance of staining.

Coaster Care

Apply a little wood conditioner or mineral oil every month to keep the wood protected.

Avoid letting moisture or spilled liquids sit for extended periods.

The natural cork backing is moisture-resistant and furniture-safe. If it gets damp, let it air-dry.

Do not submerge coasters in water or put them in the dishwasher.
