FAQ

Why a single piece of wood?

There are many ways to make cutting boards, each with their own pros and cons. A single piece of wood eliminates the glue lines, joints, and seams that are present when boards are made from small scraps. Over time, those joints can fail and lead to splitting. Your clients will appreciate the seamless beauty of the wood’s natural grain, color, and character for years to come.

Do you sell non-personalized cutting boards?

Yes, that’s actually how we started. Our cutting boards have been shipped across all 50 states and a handful of countries. We sell them on Etsy, but you can also message us to purchase one directly.

How are the cutting boards and coasters finished?

After sanding smooth, we apply an all-natural food-safe blend of fractionated coconut oil and beeswax. No stains or dyes are used on our cutting boards or coasters.

Are the cutting boards difficult to maintain?

Not at all. We include full care instructions with every order. View the care instructions here. The main points to keep in mind are to avoid fully submerging the board (washing it with water and dish soap is fine), towel dry and then let the board air dry on the counter, avoid the dishwasher, and regularly apply wood conditioner. We include a 4 oz. tin of wood conditioner with every order.

Do you take custom orders?

We try our best to accommodate custom requests for cutting boards. Need a different size? We can go up to around 12.5” wide and 19” long, assuming we’re able to find large enough lumber. We can generally source slabs up to 2” thick.

We’re happy to tweak our coaster designs to meet your needs, or collaborate with you to engrave something completely custom.

Just contact us and let us know what you have in mind.

What opportunities are there for personalization and branding?

We laser-engrave your clients’ names on the top of the cutting board for them to love and display. The text is placed in the lower corner to ensure the board remains fully functional for daily cutting and chopping, not just a showpiece. Then, we engrave your name or logo on the underside, so your brand stays top of mind for years to come.

Our coaster designs feature the state and zip code of your clients’ home, the area code and city, or their last name and monogram. Your logo is engraved into the protective cork backing.

We’ll keep your logo and branding preferences on file for easy, quick, consistent reordering.

We’re also happy to partner with you on other branding opportunities. We can add your name or logo to our care instruction sheet (clients tend to hold onto those) and on our packaging. We can include your marketing materials or even a personalized thank you note if you prefer that we ship directly to your clients. Need your logo engraved full-size on the top of the coaster? Reach out to discuss how we can partner to elevate your business.

What are your logo/image format guidelines?

If you already have a print-ready logo, chances are we can use it. Vector images such as .SVG files are preferred because they scale easily without losing quality. If you have a high-resolution image (300 dpi) format such as .PNG, .TIF, or .JPG, we should be able to
use that too.

Remember, lasers don't see color; they see light and dark. A solid black logo on a white or transparent background is best. Avoid gradients, shadows, or thin, faint lines. These don't always translate well on wood grain.

If you have a specific font you use for your branding, just let us know the name, and we'll do our best to obtain it. We’re happy to perform basic digital touch-ups and engrave a small sample piece if desired. Just reach out before placing your order.

How long does production take?

As a small-batch workshop, each cutting board is handcrafted and customized to your specifications. Please allow 7-10 days for production. As much advance notice as possible is highly appreciated. Pro tip: place your order when you enter contract and we’ll take it from there.

Coasters can generally be engraved and ready for shipping or pick-up in 1-2 business days.

Placing a large holiday order? Reach out in September or October to ensure a spot on our calendar.

Is there a rush option?

We’ll always do everything we can, but we don’t want to leave you hanging. Please contact us before placing your order if you need something quicker than our standard production time. We’ll get back to you ASAP.

We generally have a wide selection of non-personalized cutting boards finished and ready for immediate shipping or pick-up on Etsy if you need something immediately.

Where are you located?

We’re proud to call the Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio home.

What delivery and pick-up options are available?

All orders include free shipping to you or directly to your clients via USPS Ground Advantage. You may also choose to pick up directly from our workshop in Clintonville. If you’re in or near Clintonville (43202 or 43214), we may be able to hand-deliver directly to you. Please reach out first if you’d like to discuss that option.

Do you only serve Central Ohio?

Not at all. We have years of experience selling on Etsy. In fact, our cutting boards are used in homes across all 50 states and several countries - as far away as Australia. While we certainly have plenty of “Ohio Pride” we’re happy to partner with you wherever you’re located.
